AlphaServer 1200 Virtualization
The AlphaServer
1200 was a powerful multi-CPU departmental server. Based on the
second generation Alpha processors (EV5) it was a departmental
workhorse in the company IT infrastructure.
Given their age and lack of hardware maintenance options these systems need to be replaced by modern equipment to protect the software they are currently running.
Trading up to a more modern Alpha or Integrity system is not a viable option for AlphaServer 1200 installations, due to the fact they are running old software versions. Alpha Emulation is therefore a better alternative.
vtAlpha allows you to move the AlphaServer 1200 software without changes to a modern Intel or AMD based system (X86). It does so by offering the Alpha software the AlphaServer 1200 hardware interface it expects.
To run your Alpha software on X86, simply copy the contents of your Alpha disks to the virtual Alpha host.
